The Library as Place Masterclass 2010 - space, service and technology
Tuesday 7 September 2010 - Manchester
CILIP Events have just announced dates for their brand new 'The Library as Place' Masterclass workshops which offer participants an interactive one-day event with formal presentations delivered by industry experts.
These fully participative Masterclass events lay the groundwork for library design, planning and building improvement projects. Using case studies delegates will find out how to evaluate space needs and identify options for improvement. Each event focuses on interaction with the presenters and between participating delegates. The aim is to ensure all participants gain in-depth, hands on experience and solutions they can immediately apply in their workplace.

The Masterclass will consist of:
. Architectural planning concerns including: collections, staff and user services
. Planning exercises
. Visual Scan involving a library tour
. Data gathering techniques

NAG Conference 2010 - Shaping the Future - Library Services in Changing Times - University of Strathclyde, September 8th and 9th.
We are proud to announce Glasgow as the venue for this year?s conference.? Glasgow is a vibrant and exciting city and we have a programme to match! On our list of speakers this year we welcome:
- Tony Durcan of Newcastle Libraries will give the keynote
- Malcolm Pendreigh will talk about the Legal Deposit Service in Edinburgh
- Liz McGettigan (Edinburgh Libraries) will cover managing change in libraries
- David Lindley will talk about promoting our services in changing time
- A posse of speakers will address standards update including ISO 258650 and RFP for RFID, E4libraries, RDA and Servicing Guidelines
- Caron Milloy and Ben Taplin will update on the National Observatory Project and the Digital Licensing Service
- Les Watson will speak about the Saltire Library
NAG Conferences are known for their social opportunities and this year will be no exception with an entertaining after dinner speaker to be followed by a ceildh, in honour of our visit to Scotland.
