Extension to existing grade II-listed library. Spacious, inter-linked areas use glass walls and uninterrupted sight lines to allow connectivity and integration of operations, with views out to landscape from every work point.
Modern design employs materials of original buildings inside and out, namely hand-made red brick, terracotta, lead, and oak. Interior colours are tones of smokey greys, sage greens and shades of terracotta from pale pink through to vibrant russet. Sedum roof.
Environmentally-controlled repository for archive and special book collections, meets BS5454,2000; reading room for researchers; IT resources study area; throughways created to establish fluid connections between book and IT areas; offices for information support staff; meeting/seminar room; cloakroom facilities; wheelchair access.
