Detailed description:
Location : Central to village opposite the car park. The new building was built on the site of the old Great Shelford library.
External features: Street scene maintained - the building looks like 2 houses with gabled roofs. The site is shared with 5 keyworker flats, 4 on the first floor above the library and one at the back of the site above the garages.Landscaping includes the provision of bat boxes, a bird box and a swallow hotel.

Internal design: The emphasis is on spaciousness and light. There are large windows at each end of the building and smaller ones down one side. Colour is achieved through the soft furnishings and the signage.

There are 2 self service machines in the library.

A Police surgery is run from the building and there are special "Engage" computer sessions run for the over 50's. The library services a number of reading groups.
